Questions sailors and clubs ask
What is Community AIS?
Community AIS is voluntary, app-based location sharing so a group can see each other on a map. It is not a marine AIS transponder and does not replace vessel AIS equipment. On the same Community map you can also add hazards, buoys and depths; wrong marks are removed after three “not true” reports.
Is SafeSail available for Android and iPhone?
Yes. Android is available as a direct APK download from this website. iPhone access is currently through Apple TestFlight.
Can I control location sharing?
Yes. Sharing is opt-in for your chosen group and can be turned on or off in the app when you decide.
How can my club organise a regatta?
Register a club account, verify your email, then create a regatta: publish the public page, approve boat entries, start the race, follow the live map, and open the recording afterward.
Does SafeSail replace onboard navigation equipment?
No. SafeSail is a companion for awareness and communication. Keep using charts, instruments and good seamanship.
